Paper! 6.4 – 8.1 2010

June 4 – August 1, 2010

PAPER! presents artists & collectives whose practice emphasizes paper as a material for working with, rather than for working on - both as an art medium and as an indispensible means for the communication of ideas and experiences. Featured work includes Art Work: A National Conversation about Art, Labor, and Economics, a newspaper organized by Chicago-based collective, Temporary Services; Book Bombs, a public art project from Philadelphia artists, Mary Tasillo & Michelle Wilson; Combat Paper Project’s letterpress & pulp prints on paper made from veteran’s uniforms; Deborah Davidovits’ video Shadow Plays; Mark Fox-Morgan’s cast paper house; Sally Rose’s nest-like, pulp-welded forms; and Therese Zemlin cut-paper diagrams inspired by sea creatures, single-celled organisms, and the scientific illustrations of Ernst Haeckel.
